A holistic, family-focused approach
A holistic, family-focused approach
Family
Family, whether biological, chosen, or community-based, is the foundation of our work. We recognize that many cultures and traditions view caregiving as collective, intergenerational, and deeply rooted in community values. We honour all expressions of family and nurture a supportive village that strengthens parents, caregivers, and children alike.
Trust in the Natural Process of Birth
We believe in the autonomy and wisdom of the body. Birth is a natural, physiological process that, in most cases, unfolds best with support, respect, and minimal unnecessary intervention. We work to challenge medicalized narratives that have disproportionately harmed Black, Indigenous, and immigrant families, ensuring that each person feels confident, informed, and in control of their birth journey.
Reproductive Justice
We are guided by the principles of reproductive justice, which affirm that every individual has the right:
-Have children, not have children, and parent in safe and supportive environments.
- Access culturally competent, affirming care that respects their choices.
- Be free from systemic barriers, discrimination, and medical mistreatment.
We commit to upholding these rights in every aspect of our work.
Birth Justice
Birth justice is at the core of our mission. We believe that all birthing people—regardless of race, gender identity, immigration status, socioeconomic background, or ability—deserve autonomy, dignity, and respect.
This means:
- Protecting people from coercion, mistreatment, and unnecessary medical interventions.
- Advocating for equal access to quality, compassionate, and culturally competent care.
- Empowering parents to make informed decisions that align with their values, traditions, and needs.
Community
We center the voices, experiences, and wisdom of the communities we serve in everything we do. By recognizing the unique journeys of our clients, especially Black and Indigenous women, immigrants, and other historically marginalized communities, we work to dismantle barriers in healthcare, foster empowerment, and create space for self-advocacy.
Culturally Affirming & Individualized Care
Every birthing and postpartum journey is unique. We honor the lived experiences, cultural backgrounds, and spiritual traditions of our clients by providing holistic, affirming, and personalized support.
Our approach is not one-size-fits-all—we meet people where they are, uplifting diverse traditions, knowledge systems, and healing practices alongside evidence-based care.
